One of region’s top coaches, Joe Smith excited to begin new era of Mainland baseball

After leading Delsea to a berth in the Group 3 state final last spring and a second-straight appearance in the championship game of the annual Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic, Joe Smith has found a new dugout to call home.
The 10th winningest active baseball coach in South Jersey following last year’s run, Smith was named the new coach at Mainland on Monday. He was approved by the Mainland Regional Board of Education and replaces Billy Kern.
